This area of our work started in 1981, taking on a business that had been established by the Whitehead family way back in 1926, making bespoke wigs (hand made).  This process has changed very little over the years.  However, the materials used have changed; when the Company was first established up until around 1980, the wigs were made with pure silk foundations; now they are all made with a nylon base, but still using European hair.  Each hair is hand knotted, in the direction that the Client wishes to wear their hair, the colour and length chosen by the Client.

Handmade pieces can take anything from four to eight weeks for completed; Clients these days require things very quickly, therefore synthetic fibre wigs can be obtained off the shelf and do look very realistic.

All wigs and hairpieces can be cut and styled and any alterations can be undertaken.  If a human hair wig/hairpiece is required, these can be coloured and additional hair placed in to their requirements and if they are handmade.

People who would consult are men loosing hair over the top of their heads, requiring toupees; ladies who loose/thin hair in the same area may require added hair; full wigs for Clients who have permanent hair loss, or short term wearers such as people who are undergoing chemotherapy.  Also children requiring a full wig for whatever reason. 

We also offer a service of cleaning and re-dressing; repairs as and where necessary.  Also when people are getting married and they require their hair to be dressed in an elaborate style is a service also on offer.  Work for the theatre, usually amateur dramatics or such like.
